name: toon
description: "Reference guide for a short animated cartoon with the person's recurring character in any style — the source method (9.10.2026, 13 episodes with the demo character Mara and her sidekick in 13 styles): one 3×3 storyboard image (9 numbered frames, GPT Image 2.5) → one MiniMax H3 Max Turbo image-to-video request, 15 s, 480P, a detailed emotional cartoon prompt; voices, sound effects and music are generated natively by the model — no ElevenLabs. 3–6 s of generation. Points to toon-* sub-skills. Use when the user says cartoon, animated short, мультфильм, мультик, anime short, claymation, pixel art animation, cartoon episode. Two external routes: the H3 draft method of this skill, and the quality route — Seedance 2.5 reference-to-video; the source preferred Seedance for quality, but the side-by-side measurement was a product commercial, not every format."

# toon · reference workflow

Measured 9.10.2026 on 13 episodes with the demo character Mara and her sidekick Pip. Article with every board, prompt and video:

## 🏆 Source experiment pick

1. **One picture in**: a 3×3 storyboard — nine numbered 16:9 frames on black, the whole story — drawn in one GPT Image 2.5 request from the character sheet, in the style → `toon-storyboard`.
2. **One request out**: H3 Max Turbo image-to-video, 15 s, 480P, the board as `image_url` only (no end image, no audio), a detailed emotional cartoon prompt with nine shots, their seconds and the lines in quotes; the model makes the voices, foley and music → `toon-turbo`.
3. Trim the 1–7 frames of the board at the start. Done.

## Two external routes: draft or quality

| Route | Model | When |
|---|---|---|
| **Draft** — the method of this skill | MiniMax H3 Max / H3 Max Turbo, 480P | drafts, many takes, a tight budget |
| 🏆 **Quality** | **Seedance 2.5** reference-to-video (`bytedance/seedance-2.5/reference-to-video`, `task: reference`): the same pictures as `image_urls` (@Image1…), the same audio as `audio_urls` (@Audio1…), 4–30 s a call, native synced sound, 480p / 720p / 1080p | the final cut, when the look matters |

**Source observation (9.10.2026): Seedance 2.5 was preferred for quality; H3 remains the draft route.** Measured side by side on a 15 s product commercial (`ad-spot`): Seedance 2.5 at 720p — cut deviations up to about 1 s in the listed measurements (versus up to 2 s on H3), finer liquids and detail, its own sound effects in sync — took 7 min against 9 s on H3 Max 480P. Not yet measured on every format; write the same shot-by-shot prompt in plain text and refer to the references as @Image1, @Audio1. Compare the routes before choosing a generation.

## Source author's cartoon preferences (not FlashBoards policy)

- **No ElevenLabs in the chosen cartoon method** — no separate TTS voices, sound effects or music: use the video model's native sound. This format-specific source preference does not negate the historical ElevenLabs Music demonstration in `ad-spot`.
- **No splitting by shot** — one storyboard, one generation per episode.

## What we tried and dropped (same episode)

| Approach | Why dropped |
|---|---|
| Keyframes per shot, 18 Turbo generations, ElevenLabs voices and effects | strange sound (effects louder than the voices), stiffer acting |
| 12-frame board first + character sheet last, native sound | the sheet flashed at the end, in one style a whole shot played over the sheet |

No demo character sheet, storyboard, prompt file or local runner is delivered or required. Make your own board and script; the measured episodes are reference examples.
