# musicvideo-film-scenes · one film, a linear story, frames for every beat

## Steps

1. **Story first, in three acts** (joy → turn → catastrophe/ending), one `{film}`, fitted to `{track}`: for each `{act}` write the beats [place + what `{character}` does]. Pick the story with the person, not from a previous run.
2. **Cast**: list the film's main roles in your story. `{character}` takes the lead; for a second main role ask the person (another of their characters, an invented face, or removed) — never a demo character.
3. **Find scenes** in your authorized film copy or accessible scene notes: search the script or descriptions by story beat and dialogue by a known line to pin exact moments.
4. **Look before you choose**: make keyframe contact sheets. The source’s preview time labels referred to an older copy; verify times against the HD copy you use.
5. **HD frames**: map each shot to its time in your HD copy, taking the middle of its first continuous portion. Extract a still with `ffmpeg -threads 2 -ss T -i film.mp4 -frames:v 1 frame.png`.
6. **4 frames per part** (each gives 2 shots). Prefer frames with the lead alone; a crowd is fine (faces get replaced).

## Never

- Scenes from several films — the world breaks.
- Scenes whose meaning would sour the tone (we dropped a police fire-hose scene from *Do the Right Thing*).
- Frames full of deaths for a light ending — show the disaster from afar.

## Example run (reference only — never reuse its files, prompts, faces or frames for a person)

*Titanic* (1997): boarding, sunset at the bow, the party below deck → the boiler room (sabotage) → the flood, the corridors, the lifeboat as the ship sinks (shown from afar). Lines used to pin moments: "I'm flying", "the lifts are closed".
