description: "What to do with a finished take using external tools — pick a take, stems (vocal + instrumental by default; 12 stems or one instrument only on request), a longer version (extend), fixed words or style (a new round), cover art (Suno's accompanying picture or one with the person's character), or a music-video brief. Choose the next tasks in your project notes. Part of the music reference set."

# music-after · after the take

The track is the take you selected; keep its local copy and its task/track identifiers from your supported external tool.

## Choose what to do next

After choosing a take, list any next tasks: stems (vocal + beat), a longer version, revised words or style, cover art, or a music video. You may choose several or write another goal. Use the order below for the chosen tasks; no card interface is required.

| Pick | Do |
|---|---|
| Stems | Stem separation on {track} → `<name>_N_vocals.mp3`, `<name>_N_instrumental.mp3` as separate audio files. **Only vocal + instrumental unless they ask** for drums/bass/etc.: request up to 12 stems or one instrument plus the rest through your supported tool; do not run extra separations unasked. |
| Longer | an illustrative plan `{"name": "<name>_long", "continue_at": 50, "lyrics": "<new lines: a verse or the last chorus + outro>"}` (set `continue_at` to the chosen second, such as the last chorus end) → extend from that point with your supported external tool; 2 takes. Use the selected track’s original identifier. |
| Fix words / style | a new song request with the changed lyrics or style (same `source` if there was one, same `name` + `_v2`). Small fixes are a whole new take — say so in a line. |
| Cover art | Use Suno's accompanying picture: save the accompanying artwork if your supported tool provides it. A cover with their character → make a square 1:1 picture from their look sheet; the song title as the only text. |
| Music video | Start a music-video brief with the selected track and lyrics; see the AI music video guide. |

## Pitfalls

- Generation, stems and extension took 1–3 min in the source tests; wait for the existing task before starting another.
- Extension needs the original Suno track identifier; for another file use a new request with `source`.
- The source provider files were retained for 14 days; save your own copies.
- Stems of a mix not made by Suno were also tried, with lower quality.

## Example run (reference only)

9.10.2026, test take «fly_test_1» (60 s): stems → vocals + instrumental, 60 s each, in 55 s; extend from 50 s with a
3-line outro → 110 s takes, in 60 s.

These measured files are not delivered or required; use your own selected track.
