# upscale-regenerate · fast regeneration, not pixel-exact

GPT Image 2.5 does not upscale — it **re-photographs**: more detail, but every contour shifts a few pixels
(drift 4–6 vs 0.4 for Magnific Ultra Sublime). Fine for a draft or a start frame, wrong for a sheet or a frame that must match.

## Choose

| Priority | Settings | Time | Drift |
| --- | --- | --- | --- |
| ⚡ | Flare · quality **low** · 2144×1600 (keep the aspect, multiples of 16) · strict prompt | ~20 s | ~5.4 |
| 🏆 closer to source | same · quality **high** | ~50 s | 2.8 |

## Strict prompt (use as is)

```
Picture 1 is a small, soft image. Output the very same image at high resolution, as if the original photograph had been shot on a medium-format camera: identical composition, framing, person, face, expression, pose, hair, clothes, colours, light and background — nothing added, removed, moved or changed. The only difference is resolution and fine detail: pores, freckles, lashes, brow hairs, hair strands, fabric weave, seams, laces. Remove compression artifacts and blur. Natural photographic sharpness, the same colour grading; no smoothing, no oversharpening, no illustration look.
```

## Never

- The one-word prompt "upscale" — worst drift (7.5) and the least detail.
- "Cinematic 8K / Alexa 65" style prompts when fidelity matters — more detail, more drift.
- 4K for a close-up (paints). For exact results use `upscale-closeup` / `upscale-sheet` (Magnific).
