AI Song from a Hum
External-tool reference examples from the source experiments, not a claim of current FlashBoards model availability or installed automation. Use your own supported tools and authorized media; settings, timings and comparisons describe the tested runs.
Also called: hum to song, AI song generator from voice, Suno cover of your voice, voice memo to song, AI rap from a line
A few seconds of your voice — a hum, a line you sang or rapped — grown into a full song that keeps your melody and flow. Below, the method for your own recording: hear the words and the sound, pick the vibe from real references, write the lyrics around your line, and have Suno V6 cover your recording — with the tools, the requests and the owner’s voice message as the worked example, every take included.
Video script
Hi, I'm Yaro. I rapped eight seconds into my phone. Now it's a two-and-a-half-minute song. With a band. That I don't have.
The trick: a text prompt loses your tune. So Suno V6 covers your recording instead. Your hum is the melody. Suno is the band.
Step one: listen. ElevenLabs Scribe writes down the words. Gemini 3.8 Flash says how it sounds: rap, a hundred and thirty beats per minute. One word was heard three different ways. My diction is that good.
Step two: the vibe. MusicBrainz gives three vibes, each with artists you know. But names stay out of the style line. Suno doesn't take names. It's not a name-dropper.
Step three: the words. Your line becomes the hook, word for word. Always give it lyrics. Our first try had none, and two instrumentals came back. Very relaxing. Very not my song.
Step four: make it. Upload and cover, through kie.ai. Audio weight zero point six five keeps it close to your hum. Two takes in about two minutes.
One rule: your own voice only. A famous hit as the source gets refused. Two out of two. Nice try.
Step five: stems split the vocal and the beat. Extend makes it longer. And Suno provides accompanying cover art. A crown on a cloud. Humble.
The source chat prototype asked for one creative choice at a time: words, vibe, lyrics, generation, then a take and follow-up. It is not an integrated FlashBoards music workflow.
Every take is right below. Scroll down. Hum something. I'll warm up the band.

Your hum as the melody, Suno as the band
Eight seconds of a voice message became a two-and-a-half-minute song built on it: the words were heard, the vibe picked from three references, the lyrics written around the line, and Suno V6 covered the recording — two takes.

The short answer
Record a few seconds — hum it, sing it, rap it. Let one model write down the words and another say what it sounds like; pick the vibe from three real references; write the rest of the lyrics around your own line; then have Suno V6 cover your recording with those lyrics and a style in words. The melody and the flow stay yours, the band and the production come from Suno. Always give it lyrics — without them the same request returns an instrumental.
- Melody✕ a new song from a text prompt — your tune is lost✓ upload-and-cover of your recording — the flow stays
- Lyrics✕ none — two instrumentals came back✓ your line as the hook, the rest written around it
- The words you sang✕ one speech-to-text, trusted✓ two listeners; where they differ, you pick
- Style✕ “like <artist>” — Suno doesn’t take names✓ genres from MusicBrainz, the artists only as your references
- Cover of a hit✕ a commercial recording as the source — refused✓ your own voice or track as the source
Your recording, and the worked example
The seed is your voice: a voice message, a hum into the phone, a line you sang or rapped — a few seconds is enough. If you have no recording, an idea works too (a song from an idea). Everything below is a method with slots: your words, your melody, your vibe.
Example run — the owner’s voice message. An 8.3-second voice message in Russian: a laid-back rap line about flying above the ground. We took it through every step on 9 October 2026 — first by hand through the kie.ai API, then in a source chat prototype, where every creative choice was a button.
1 · Hear it: the words and the sound
Scribe v2 · Gemini 3.8 FlashTwo listeners, two jobs. ElevenLabs Scribe v2 writes down the words with a time for each — it is the one to trust for words. Gemini 3.8 Flash (through kie.ai) listens to the whole thing and says what it is: rap, singing or humming, the tempo, the key, the delivery, three genres it fits, the mood and what the words are about. It also writes the words — and where the two listeners disagree, that is the word to ask about.
Listen: words and word times from Scribe v2; sound description from Gemini. References: MusicBrainz genre data, three named references, a style description without artist names. Song: source = your own recording for a cover; omit source for a new song. Stems: vocal + instrumental by default; request up to 12 stems or one instrument only if needed. Extend: choose the continuation point and new lyrics with the selected take’s original identifier. Use your own supported external tools; this is a creative reference, not installed automation.

- About 15 seconds for the transcription and sound description together.
2 · The vibe, from MusicBrainz
three genres · named references · no names in the style“Cloud rap” means little until you hear who it is. So every vibe comes with three artists you know — taken from the MusicBrainz database (the full dump of 7 October 2026: 223 thousand artists with genres or tag votes), ranked by how known they are, not by how often a tag was clicked. The same data gives the style line for Suno: the genre and its neighbours from the genre list, never an artist’s name — Suno doesn’t take names in the style, and the sound is what you want anyway.

Above: the vibes Yaro proposed for an idea with no recording — “a song about night-time Moscow in the rain, sad but beautiful”. Genre names from a model are matched to MusicBrainz (“Russian Trap” → trap). If the person types an artist instead, the style comes from that artist’s genres and tags.
3 · The words: your line is the hook
the language you sang in · tags · no lyrics from memoryThe seed’s words are the chorus, word for word. The rest is written for this song, in the language of the seed — two verses with concrete pictures from its theme, a bridge, an outro, structure tags on their own lines. Never the words of an existing song. The style line starts from the picked vibe and adds the voice, the tempo from listen, two to four instruments and the mood.
[Intro] Эй... у... э... [Outro] У... я лечу... над землёй...

4 · Make it: Suno covers your recording
upload-and-cover · V6 · two takesThe song is a cover of the seed: Suno V6 takes the melody and the flow from your recording and builds a song on the lyrics and the style. audio_weight sets how close it stays — 0.65 by default, 0.75 to stay closer to the hum, 0.5 to rework it. Every request returns two takes.

}- Both takes took 121 seconds — the same job took 56–67 s of generation earlier in the day; plan for up to three minutes.
- The hook is the seed’s own words: Scribe on the take’s vocal stem finds «я лечу над землёй» six times and the seed’s first line in all four choruses.
- Without lyrics the cover is an instrumental. Our first request had the seed and no words: two instrumentals came back. The source workflow subsequently refused a vocal song without lyrics.
- A commercial recording as the source is refused (kie 413 “matches an existing recording in our catalog”, 2 of 2) — a cover needs your own voice or track; for “in the style of” make a new song with the style line.
5 · After the take: stems, longer, cover art
vocal + instrumental by defaultPick a take, then what to do with it. Stems split it into the vocal and the instrumental — that is the default; up to twelve stems or one instrument are there on request. Longer extends the take from a second you choose with new lines. Suno also draws a cover picture for every take.
- Stems took about a minute. Extension took about a minute; the take continued from 50 s to 1:50.
- Extend needs the take’s Suno id, so it works on takes made in the same place; for any other file make a new cover.

What works best
our conclusionsYour hum as the melody, Suno as the band

- Song
- Suno V6 upload-and-cover through kie.ai · your melody kept ·
audio_weight0.65 · lyrics required - Time
- two 2:30 takes · 25 s–2 min
- Your voice is the best prompt for a melody. A cover of your recording keeps the tune and the flow; a text prompt can’t.
- Always give it lyrics — your line as the hook, the rest written for the song; without them you get an instrumental.
- Two listeners for the words. Scribe for the text, Gemini for the sound; ask the person where they differ.
- Pick the vibe by ear, with names you know — and keep the names out of the style line.
- Only your own audio as the source. A hit’s recording is refused; a new song in that style is not.
- Two takes — make another round rather than tweak; stems and a longer version are about a minute.
Use your own recording and the external reference steps above; the source chat prototype is not an integrated FlashBoards feature.
FAQ
8 questionsCan AI turn my humming into a full song?
Yes. Suno V6 upload-and-cover (we use it through kie.ai) takes your recording as the melody and builds a song on the lyrics and the style you give it. An 8-second voice message became two 2:30 takes in about a minute or two.
Why did I get an instrumental from my hum?
Because there were no lyrics in the request. The same seed without lyrics returned two instrumentals; with lyrics — vocal songs on the seed’s own words. Write your line as the hook and the rest of the words, with [Verse] and [Chorus] tags.
How do I get the words of my recording right?
Use a speech-to-text model for the words (ElevenLabs Scribe v2 gives each word with its time) and an audio model (Gemini 3.8 Flash) as a second listener. Where they differ, ask the singer. In our example three lines matched and one word was heard three different ways.
Can I ask Suno for a song like a famous artist?
Not by name — Suno doesn’t take artist names in the style. Describe the sound instead: we take the artist’s genres from MusicBrainz and write them with the voice, instruments and tempo. The names stay as references for you to choose from.
Can I make a cover of a famous song with Suno?
Not from its recording: a commercial track as the source was refused (“matches an existing recording in our catalog”, 2 of 2 tries). Cover your own voice or track, or make a new song in that style.
How long did the song and follow-up take?
The source song request through kie.ai returned two takes. Song generation took 25–121 seconds in the measured examples; vocal/instrumental stems and an extension each took about a minute, and listening to the seed took about 15 seconds.
How do I get the vocal and the beat separately?
Run stem separation on the take: by default it returns the vocal and the instrumental. Up to twelve stems — drums, bass, keys and so on — or one chosen instrument are available too; choose the separation you need rather than requesting all variants.
How long does a song take?
From 23 seconds for a 30-second song to about two minutes for a 2:30 cover in our runs. Plan for up to three minutes.
