Desktop app
FlashBoards for desktop is coming soon. See how it will differ from the web app, and how to prepare your boards.
FlashBoards for desktop is the same canvas you use in the browser, with boards and media saved on your computer.
NoteComing soon
There is no public download yet; the Software page on the website shows a disabled Soon button. This page describes what is planned, and details may change.
What changes compared with the web
- Files on your computer. Boards and media are saved as files, so the browser storage warnings from the web app don't apply. The app decides where files go.
- Large imports. Big files show progress, and you can click Cancel import in the toolbar.
- Safe quitting. If you quit with unsaved changes, you can choose Keep Open or leave without saving.
- Same account, still online. You sign in with your FlashBoards account and need an internet connection. Generation uses the same balance.
Privacy choices on first run
In most regions, a Privacy in FlashBoards dialog asks you to Accept, Decline or Customize (turn Usage analytics and Error diagnostics on or off separately). Optional data stays off until you accept. In some regions there's no dialog: usage analytics starts on, with a notice offering Turn analytics off. Error reports stay off unless you turn them on.
Change your choices any time in Settings → General under Privacy.
Move boards from the browser
Boards don't move over automatically.
Export in the browser
Export your boards from the web app. See Import and export.
Import in the desktop app
Import the exported files the same way in the desktop app.
Keep your browser copy until you've checked the boards in the desktop app.
Updates
Use Check for Updates in the app menu (the Help menu on Windows) or under Settings → General → Desktop app. If a new version is available, Open Download Page takes you to the website. Updates aren't installed automatically.
