Cameo Library

Build a consistent character from one Character Sheet, then try it on with poses, outfits and places, or make turnarounds and pose sheets.

The Cameo Library is a character builder. Create a character once, and Cameo makes a Character Sheet: one image with the face and full body side by side. Every later image uses that Sheet, so the character stays the same person: in new views, or "trying on" a pose, emotion, location, hairstyle or outfit.

Browsing is free. Image actions are paid image runs. Every paid button shows its price (a maximum, "up to") before you click.

NoteWho can use it

Every signed-in account on the web app. Runs are charged like any other generation. See Generation billing.

Open the Cameo Library

  • Click Cameo Library (the person icon) in the top right of the board, next to Reference Search.
  • Or click Files in the bottom toolbar, then Cameo Library in the sidebar.

Your Characters are on the left. The tabs are Character, Libraries and Wardrobe. More holds Views and layouts, State timeline, Readiness, Learn, Import and Export.

Use Simple, Advanced or Pro at the top right to show fewer or more controls. Your choice is remembered in this browser.

A finished character: the Character Sheet shows the face and full body side by side.

WarningCharacters stay on this device

Characters, photos, favorites and results are saved in this browser only. They don't sync, and clearing site data removes them. To save a character as a file, use More → Export. Use More → Import to load one.

Create a character

Add a character

Click New next to Characters.

Add photos (optional)

Under Character photo, click Upload photo to use a real face. You can add up to four photos. In Pro, Photo settings → Keep from source sets what carries over: Face, Face and build or Entire look.

Describe the character

In Create your character, pick Male or Female, and type a Name if you like (empty means a random name). In Advanced you can also set Individuality, a story role (Archetype), a Description and an Age. Pro has Individuality, Archetype and Description here; set Age in the character's profile instead.

Click Generate

Cameo writes the character's profile for free on your device, then makes one paid image: the Character Sheet. The button shows that image's price. The panel shows each step, then saves the character, the Sheet and matching references.

Hold Shift and click Generate to have AI write the profile instead. That adds a paid text step before the Sheet; the tooltip shows the total. In Simple mode, each new Generate picks a fresh personality, role and age, but keeps the name and gender.

The dice next to Name and Description give a free random idea. Shift+click the description dice for an AI-written description, which is a paid text step.

If the image fails, your profile is kept and Generate retries only the image.

While a character is being created, a Discover references carousel shows references that might fit. Click Assign on one to save it to the character's Wardrobe. Nothing is generated.

The Character Sheet

After Generate, the Sheet appears under Face and full body. Click it to enlarge it.

  • Use Previous and Next to look through earlier Sheets, each with the profile it was made from. Browsing doesn't change the character.
  • Cameo cuts the Sheet into a portrait and a full-body view for free.
  • Next to it, Character overview sums up the name, role, personality and motivation. Dive in shows the details.
  • In Pro, the full profile (Identity and appearance, Personality, Voice and music) is below and can be edited. Regenerate Sheet makes a new Sheet from the current profile without rewriting it.

Everything else in Cameo needs a Sheet. Without one, you see Generate the Character Sheet first to use it for further images.

Views and turnarounds

Open More → Views and layouts for more angles.

  • Pick a Sheet level: Basic · 6 views, Full · 13 views or Advanced · 19 views.
  • Click Generate under a view, or select views and click Generate selected, or click Generate all. Each view is one paid image; the button shows the total.
  • Options under a view has Replace (upload your own image) and Edit prompt and model.
  • Turnaround · 8 views and Head angles · 3×3 each make one paid image with all the angles in a grid. Clicking one opens Prompt and model settings with its Generate button and price.

Browse and search references

Open Libraries. Pick a Category, such as Poses, Emotions, Locations, Hairstyles, Makeup, Camera angles and shots, Lighting, Props or Styles · Fashion / Editorial, or click ★ Favorites.

  • Each category shows a random page. Use Previous and Next to browse.
  • To search the open category, type in Search by meaning: lying down, neutral, wild…. Clear returns to browsing.
  • Hover a reference and click the star to add it to Favorites.
  • Styles · Fashion / Editorial has its own style search. A style changes the outfit, accessories and look but keeps the face and build.

Try a character on

Pick the character

Click it in the Characters list. It needs a Character Sheet. In Pro, you can pick a later state of the character in the menu next to its name.

Select references

In Libraries, click one or more references. They appear under Selected on the right. Click Remove from try-on (the X) to drop one.

Check the model and prompt

Open Try-on model settings to change the model or edit the prompt. The default model takes up to three references plus your Sheet; for more, pick another model.

Click Try on

The button shows the price and starts the paid run straight away. It reads Trying on… until Saved to Cameo.

In Libraries → Poses, select a pose, check Try-on model settings and click Try on. The result is saved to the character; click it to see it full size.

Pose and emotion sheets

In Poses or Emotions, select two or more references. Two more buttons appear:

  • Sheet · N panels makes one paid image with your character in each selected pose or emotion, up to nine panels.
  • Build chart joins the selected references into one grid image on your device, for free. Then Chart edit · N panels puts your character into every panel and keeps the poses (one paid image). If you change the selection, build the chart again.

The default model takes only a few references, so larger sheets need another model in the settings.

Select four poses, click Build chart · 2×2 (free, on your device), then Chart edit · 4 panels. The character takes every pose in one image.

While a run is going

Cancel appears while you can still stop the run. Once it has started, the panel says This run can't be cancelled once started. Waiting for the result… From then on the run is charged if it succeeds.

You can switch tabs or characters, close Cameo or reload the page. The result is saved to the character it was started for. If you reload before it arrives, click the same Generate or Try on button again: Cameo picks up the same run and doesn't charge you twice. If you started something else for that slot in the meantime, the result goes to Generation history instead of replacing your choice.

Where results go

Results are saved in the Cameo Library. To use one on your board, click Add to board under it. It's offered under the portrait, the displayed Sheet, each Sheet slot, results and try-ons. The image is added to the open board; on a read-only board you'll see This board is read-only.

  • The newest result is under Saved result. Click a thumbnail to open it full size.
  • Wardrobe lists results and references by category. Tick canon to keep a result as part of the character. Upload (or drop images on a section) adds your own references.
  • After a character is created, Cameo saves four or five matching references per category to Wardrobe for free. Refresh references picks a new set.
  • Try-on history and prompts keeps each request with its prompt, Copy and Retry (a new paid run).
  • Generation history (the clock icon in the header) lists every image Cameo made, newest first, with its model, date, prompt and inputs.

To put a reference on your board, open Save reference on a card under Selected, then click Add to board. Assign saves it to the character's Wardrobe without generating.

Delete and restore a character

Click Delete character (the trash icon) in the header, then Delete. Saved images and any running generation stay in Generation history. To bring the character back, open Generation history, pick it (marked Deleted) and click Restore character.
