Guided edit

Mark an area of an image, describe the change, and place an edited copy next to the original.

Guided edit changes one part of an image. You mark the area, describe what should change there, and pick a model. FlashBoards keeps the pixels outside your selection as they were, and adds the result as a new image next to the original, connected to it. Your original is never changed.

NoteSigned in and paid

Each Generate is a paid AI run, charged to your balance like any generation. The editor shows the estimated charge before you start. See Billing.

Open the editor

Select a still image on one of your own boards, open its three-dot More actions menu and choose Guided edit. It isn't offered for GIFs or on shared boards; work on a private copy instead.

The image can be a PNG, JPEG or WebP without transparency, up to 8192 pixels per side and 32 megapixels.

If no model can run for your account, the editor explains why under Model and Generate stays disabled. Use Sign in or See plans if offered. If it says Guided edit isn’t available right now., try again later.

Mark the area

Choose a selection tool

Use the Brush, Lasso, Rectangle or Ellipse. Switch between adding to and removing from the selection to refine it. The brush size has presets and a custom value.

Refine the edge

Grow selection and Shrink selection move the boundary by a few pixels. Undo selection, Redo selection and Clear work on the selection only.

Move around

Zoom in and out, Fit the image, or view Actual pixels. Expand the editor for more room, and hold Space (or use Pan) to move the image.

Generate and compare

Describe what to change in the marked area in Instruction, choose the model (GPT Image 2.5 Flare or GPT Image 2.5 Sunburst, when available to your account) and its quality, then click Generate.

When a result is ready, compare it with the original Side by side or with a Wipe slider. Generate another makes a second version with the same settings; the editor keeps your last two successful results so you can switch between them. Adjust edit returns to the selection and instruction for that result, and Edit this result starts a new edit from it.

If the image's proportions don't suit the model, FlashBoards works on a resized, padded copy. Fine detail inside the selection can change, but the placed image keeps the original's size.

Place the result

Click Place on board. The edited copy is added next to the original as a separate PNG, connected to it. Board Undo removes it like any other change.

Results you haven't placed stay in the editor only while the page is open. After a reload, the generation itself can still be found in Generation history, but the edited copy has to be made again. Download RAW output saves the model's own output, before FlashBoards blends it into your original.
