Inputs and references

Turn board media into model inputs with I and C, fill slots, reorder references, use start and end frames, text and voice inputs, and @-mentions.

A file on the board is only sent to the model as an input. Mark it as one, or have it selected when you click Generate: selected media fills the model's empty slots, and the slot list previews what will be used. Once a model is active, the slots it accepts appear at the bottom left.

Mark items as inputs

Select one or more media items and press I. Each gets a lime INPUT badge with its order number. Press I again to remove it.

  • C clears the role of the selected items, as does Clear AI Role in the right-click menu.
  • Only media items can be inputs, not text notes.
  • In a mixed selection, items that are already inputs get removed, so start from items without a role.

Fill slots from the slot list

Each slot uses the model's own label, such as Reference Images, Input Image or Start Frame (Optional). Required slots have an orange asterisk and an orange outline while empty.

  1. Select media on the board. The slot's add row previews it with its file name; click that row to add it. If you generate now instead, selected media fills the empty slots and the price on Generate already counts it.
  2. Click Add input image for a single slot, or Add images / Add more for a multi slot.
  3. Click an assigned row to find that item on the board.
Select a reference and click the + row with its file name under Reference Images to make it the input. Then write the prompt and pick an aspect ratio

A single slot holds one item. To replace it, untick its row (Remove) and add the new one. A multi slot shows a count such as (3/10), and Maximum reached when full. While files upload, the slots show Preparing upload....

Order matters for multi-reference slots

References are sent in the order listed. Change it with Move up and Move down, or drag a row's handle. The numbers on the board badges update to match.

Remove inputs

  • Click the checkbox on an assigned row (Remove).
  • To clear everything, hover the slot list, hold Alt and click Clear all inputs.

Switching models clears inputs

Picking a different model or workflow clears every input role on the board and turns off Auto-Upscale. Your prompt is kept. Assign inputs again after you switch.

Reuse prompt, model, and inputs brings back the inputs saved with that run, so you don't need to reassign them. See Generate.

Start frames, video and audio slots

Some video models have slots such as Start Frame (Optional), End Frame (Optional), Source Video or an audio slot. Select an image and click the Start Frame row, then optionally set the End Frame. Each slot only takes its own media type; the i on a slot explains how it's used.

Attaching a reference video can change the price for some models, so watch the button. File limits are in Supported formats.

Text and voice inputs

Text-to-speech and some audio models take text instead of media. A text slot such as Narration Text or Speech text shows Using typed prompt and uses your prompt box. To use a text note instead, select it on the board and click the text row.

Audio models that change, clean up, split, cover or extend a recording have a Source audio slot. Mark an audio item with I, or select it.

Option inputs such as Audio References show Select plus the label; tick up to the allowed number. A Voice control may appear under the prompt. See Prompt and settings.

Reference inputs with @-mentions

When the model has input slots, type @ in the prompt to open Asset suggestions.

  1. Filter by All, Image, Video, Audio or Text. AI references are items already assigned, such as @image1. Board media are other items that fit an open slot.
  2. Use the arrow keys and press Tab, or click, to insert. Esc closes the list.

Picking from Board media also assigns that item to the matching slot.

Type @ in the prompt, press Tab to insert an assigned input, or click a board item to add it

Note

Typing a label like "Reference A" by hand attaches nothing. Use @ or I so the item is actually an input.
